Box Score Ashland, VA – Eastern Mennonite used 59.3% shooting including a 17-for-29 mark in the second-half to get past Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball, 93-68, on Tuesday night.
Five players scored in double-figures for the Royals with Kala Yoders leading the way with 18 points. Steph Rheinheimer finished with 17 points, including a 5-7 mark from three-point land. Bianca Ygarza (12), Raiven Patterson (10) and Shakeerah Sykes (11) also posted double-digits. Keyla Baltimore recorded a game-high eight assists for EMU.
Sarah Parsons led the Yellow Jacket offense with 18 points on 5-for-9 shooting. Katie Anderson joined Parsons in double-figures, finishing with 12 points. Kellie Cortina chipped in with 11 and five rebounds. Hannah Livermon dished out a team-high four assists on the night.
EMU capitalized on 60.6% from the field in the first half, taking a 45-27 advantage into the locker room at intermission. During the first eight minutes of the second stanza, the Royals went on a 22-15 to take a 25 point lead with 11 minutes left to play.
The Yellow Jackets forced 21 Royal turnovers on the night. Caroline Young led the defense with four steals followed by fellow sophomore Cortina who has two swipes.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action when they travel to Roanoke, VA to take on Hollins University. Tip-off is set for a 2 p.m. start.
