Box Score Ashland, VA - Patrick Kelly's two goals in the first half gave Mary Washington the early lead and the victory while the Yellow Jackets were held scoreless.
The first half score remained 0-0 until Kelly was the first to connect with the back of the net off of an assist from Jake Doyle in the 24th minute. Kelly scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Tommy Sangbouasy, 10 minutes later.
Sangbouasy would open the second half with an unassisted goal and the last of the game at the 54 minute mark.
Mary Washington's (3-0-0) attack was paced by Kelly and Sangbouasy who combined, recorded nine shots and six shots on goal.
Freshman Andrew Oakes and juniors Brock Barbeau and David Sullivan were the only players to record shots for the Yellow Jackets. Oakes and Barbeau combined for four shots while Sullivan had one shot and one on goal.
R-MC (0-3-0) was outshot 13-5 but held the 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Both teams posted 11 fouls on the game.
Goalie Chris Lowe played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves.
The men will be back in action at home against Hood on September 8th. Kick-off is set for a 3 p.m. start.
