Box Score ASHLAND, VA – An early first half goal by midfielder James Lawrence gave Hampden Sydney College the 1-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday afternoon. R-MC now falls to 1-1 in ODAC play.
The score remained 0-0 until the 22nd minute when H-SC midfielder Chris Whiteside connected with Lawrence for the only goal of the match. Lawrence paced the Tiger attack with four shots on goal out of ten total shots.
The Tiger defense held strong, allowing R-MC only three total shots and one on goal. Tommy Fisher was the only R-MC player to record a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper, Chris Lowe played all 90 minutes and kept the Tigers from doing further damage by stopping nine of the ten shots on goal.
The men will return to action on September 22 against ODAC opponent, Bridgewater College, at 11 a.m.
