Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon fell to Washington and Lee, 78-67 Tuesday evening in women's ODAC basketball action. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 12-10 on the season, 10-7 in conference play, while the Generals improved to 10-11 overall, 8-8 in the ODAC.
Taylor Wieczorek led R-MC with 17 points and 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Sarah Parsons added 13 points and five steals, while Christina Phelps came off the bench to chip in 10 points and six boards.
W&L scored first and never looked back, racing out to a 26-8 advantage midway through the first stanza. The Generals would push the lead to as many as 20, before heading into the half up 39-20 off a layup by Katy Wilson in the final seconds.
Washington and Lee continued its hot shooting, extending its lead to 27, after a three by Annie Gauf.
R-MC responded, putting together a 21-6 run, capped by two free throws from Jillian Asay to cut the lead to 12 at 61-49 with six minutes remaining.
The Generals then went on a 6-2 run of their own to open the game back up with five minutes left.
The Yellow Jackets refused to go down without a fight, trimming the deficit to 13 or fewer three times over the final three minutes of play. However, W&L sank clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Randolph-Macon shot 32.9% from the floor, including 20% from the field in the first half. The Yellow Jackets hit 1-of-16 three point attempts on the evening.
W&L finished the game shooting 49.1% from the floor, 42.9% from distance. The Generals out rebounded the Yellow Jackets, 42-40 on the contest, while R-MC held a 24-14 edge on the offensive glass.
Meg Ingram led four players in double figures for Washington and Lee with 28 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Wilson added a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, February 11th when they play host to Bridgewater in their home finale. Tip-off is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
