Box Score ROANOKE, Va--- Randolph-Macon closed out the regular season with a 74-66 loss to Hollins Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets finished the year 14-11 overall, 12-8 in conference play, while HU improved to 10-15 on the season, 8-12 in the ODAC.
With the regular season over for each member of the ODAC, R-MC solidified the number four seed for the conference tournament. The Yellow Jackets will take on Washington and Lee (13-12 / 11-9 ODAC), who won a tie breaker with Bridgewater to earn the fifth seed. The Yellow Jackets won the 2010-11 ODAC Championship.
Sarah Parsons led three R-MC players in double figures with a career-high 27 points and six rebounds. Taylor Wieczorek and Jillian Asay added 10 points apiece. Maggie Roy chipped in seven points, nine rebounds, and seven assists and Madison Dulaney helped out on the glass, pulling down eight boards.
Jasmine Greene, the ODAC's second leading scorer led four Hollins players to score double digits, pouring in 32 points. Chanci Wright added a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Lacie Forrest contributed 10 points and nine assists.
R-MC jumped out to an early 10 point advantage, leading 23-13 after two Parsons free throws midway through the first stanza. Trailing 28-17 with just under five minutes to play, Hollins put together a 12-6 run to close the half and enter the locker room down, 34-29.
Asay came out of the intermission hot for the Yellow Jackets, tossing in five quick points in the opening five minutes to push Randolph-Macon's advantage to nine. Hollins responded, stringing together a 19-4 run over the next five minutes, taking the lead for good on a Greene layup midway through the final period and make the score 51-48.
Randolph-Macon would cut the lead to as little as two, 64-62 on a jumper by Wieczorek with two minutes to go. Greene replied with a three of her own and HU would close the game out at the free throw line.
Hollins finished the game shooting 41.5% from the field, including 46.2% from behind the arc. R-MC out-rebounded HU 43-38, including a 16-13 edge on the offensive glass.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Thursday, February 23rd when they travel to Salem, Va for the start of the ODAC Tournament. R-MC will take on Washington and Lee in game two of the first day's action. Tip-off is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start and tickets are currently on sale.
