Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Marymount used four players in double-figures to get past Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball, 70-57, on Thursday night.
The Saints capitalized on 14 Yellow Jacket turnovers in the first-half, taking a 35-27 advantage into the locker room at the intermission.
Marymount (5-3) put together a 19-6 run during the first seven minutes of play in the second-half, pushing its lead to 54-33 on a layup by Tynisha Parks with just under 13 minutes left on the clock.
R-MC (1-7) mounted a late rally with a 17-5 run, capped by a Hannah Livermon jumper to pull the Jackets within eight points with 2:24 left on the clock.
Marymount would convert four consecutive free-throws to extend its lead back up to 12 and seal the win.
Livermon led R-MC offensively, going 5-for-9 from beyond the arc for 17 points. Katie Anderson notched her seventh straight game in double figures, finishing with 14 points, while teammate Caroline Young chipped in eight points and three boards. Freshman point guard Khajae Hester dished out a team-high six assists on the night.
Marymount's Katelyn Fischer had a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting and she dished out six assists for the Saints. Parks (14), Kievanna Lacey (13) and Anna Lies (12) joined Fischer in double-figures, combining for 39 points.
Miranda Krott led the Saints with eight rebounds, helping Marymount to a 37-28 edge on the glass. R-MC had a 42.6 shooting percentage (20-47) for the game.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Saturday, December 8th, when they play host to Virginia Union University. Tip-off is set for a 2:00 p.m. start.
