Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- Ferrum used 42.3% shooting including an 18-for-40 mark in the second-half to get past Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball, 86-57, on Tuesday night.
Freshman forward Katie Anderson led R-MC (0-3) offensively, going 5-for-12 from the field for 13 points. Sarah Parsons chipped in with 11 points, including a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Freshman Hannah Livermon connected on two three-pointers, finishing with 10 points.
Ferrum's (1-0) Tesla Akers had a game-high 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting in just 15 minutes of action. Kylene Culler joined Akers in double-figures with 11 points and five rebounds.
Kelsey Frazier led Ferrum with 12 rebounds on the night, helping the Panthers to a 50-33 edge on the glass. Ferrum's defense was able to limit R-MC to a 27.8 shooting percentage (15-54) for the game, including 7-of-26 from the floor in the first-half.
Ferrum capitalized on the Jackets' cold shooting, taking a 37-22 advantage into the locker room at intermission. The Panthers would then put the game away with a 21-6 run during the first the six minutes of the second-half of play.
The teams combined for 62 turnovers on the evening. Anderson had a game-high five steals for R-MC, while FC's Kayla Goins had four swipes.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Tuesday, November 27th, when they travel to Lynchburg College to begin ODAC play. Tip-off is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
