Box Score ASHLAND, VA – R-MC Men's Soccer dropped a 2-1 overtime thriller to Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon. The men fall to 2-9-3 overall while the Generals improve to 9-3-1 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets took the 1-0 lead when Tommy Fisher connected a pass over the defenders to Andrew Oakes in the 33rd minute. Oakes currently leads the team in goals and points with six and 13, respectively.
In the second staza, Washington and Lee midfielder Zach Colby tied the match with an unassisted goal in the 51st minute. The score would hold 1-1 until the end of regulation.
Alex Zelinski needed just three minutes of overtime to score a breakaway goal as he bypassed though the R-MC defenders to end the match in W&L's favor.
Chris Lowe took the loss in goal for R-MC, recording four stops on the afternoon.
The Generals outshot the Yellow Jackets 20-1 and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
The men will be back in action on October 16th as they travel to Shenandoah for a 7:00 p.m. start.
