Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Eastern Mennonite forward, Christian Rhine, recorded a hat trick to send EMU to a 3-2 victory over Randolph-Macon Wednesday afternoon. The men fall to 2-8-3, while the Royals improve to 7-7-1.
In the first half, Randolph-Macon jumped out to 1-0 lead when Tyler Dorr found Andrew Schaefer on a cross in the 36th minute.
The Yellow Jackets maintained the advantage for the rest of the half and 10 minutes into the second stanza until Rhine tied the match in the 78th minute.
The Yellow Jackets retook the lead when Zack Poston scored after Andrew Oakes' shot was deflected by EMU goalkeeper, Andrew Yoder.
Rhine found the back of the net again in the 86th minute off a Jonathan Bush assist to send the match into overtime.
With just two minutes left in overtime, Rhine notched his third goal of the match to secure the win for the Royals.
Yoder picked up the win in goal for EMU, recording seven saves on the day. Chris Lowe took the loss for R-MC, totaling six stops on the afternoon.
Randolph-Macon returns to action Monday, October 13th as they travel to Washington and Lee. Kick-off is set for a 12:00 p.m. start.
