Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va--- Randolph-Macon fell to Bridgewater, 71-59 Saturday afternoon at Nininger Hall in women's basketball action. The Jackets had their three-game winning streak snapped, dropping to 8-7 overall, 6-4 in the ODAC. The Eagles improved to 9-5 on the season, 5-4 in conference play.
Taylor Wieczorek led three players in double-figures for R-MC, finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds. Maggie Roy added 14 points for R-MC as well. Sarah Parsons chipped in 13 points and four steals.
Jessica Mullen paced the Eagles with 32 points, while Kelsey Taylor added 10 markers. Shannan Thorne pulled down a game-high nine boards.
Bridgewater jumped out to an early 8-3 lead after a jumper by Mullen. Randolph-Macon responded, as Roy drilled a three to make it a two-point game.
After a Wieczorek jumper made it 13-10, the Eagles put together a 9-0 run over the next three minutes.
The Jackets battled back, cutting the lead to six at 28-22 with just over two minutes left, after a mid-range jump shot by Caroline Young.
BC then ended the half on an 11-2 run, capped by a Mullen lay-up to take a 39-24 advantage into the intermission.
The second-half was played evenly, as R-MC outscored Bridgewater 35-32. The Yellow Jackets would come as close as seven at 47-40 with 11 minutes remaining after going on a 10-2 run. Parsons poured in five straight points during that stretch.
Bridgewater won the battle of the boards 42-40 and forced 20 Yellow Jacket turnovers. R-MC shot just 3-of-13 (23.1%) from three, while Bridgewater shot 6-of-10 from downtown.
R-MC returns to action Tuesday, January 24th when it travels to Lynchburg. Tip-off is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
