Box Score The Yellow Jackets went on a 13-4 run late in the second half to pull within seven but Washington and Lee hit 4-of-4 foul shots in the final minute to get past Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball 67-58 in Lexington Tuesday.
Katie Williams led the R-MC offense with 13 points and four rebounds while Maggie Roy joined in double figures with 12 points. Randolph-Macon held a 44-39 edge on the glass and shot 27.1% from the field, their lowest mark since December 19th, 2010.
The Generals were led by Becca Bolton who scored a game high 26 points while pulling in seven rebounds. Allie long chipped in with 13 points and Meg Ingram finished with 12 as W&L shot 42% for the game.
A back and forth start to the game sent the teams into halftime tied 26-26 with Bolton scoring 13 of the Generals' first half points.
Williams put Randolph-Macon up 35-33 with 16:04 to play after sinking a free three to convert an old fashioned three point play.
Allie Long answered with a trifecta on the next Generals' possession that ignited a 24-6 run later capped by a pair of Bolton shots from the free throw line with 6:23 on the clock to give W&L a 57-41 advantage.
On the next R-MC possession, Roy completed a four point play after being fouled as she drained a three to start a 13-4 Yellow Jackets' run that was finished off by a pair of Taylor Wieczorek foul shots with 1:57 to go.
Katy Wilson then put Washington and Lee up by nine with a layup before Williams converted two shots from the charity stripe with just over a minute to play to pull Randolph-Macon back within seven.
The Generals hit 4-of-4 foul shots in the final minute to stave off the Jackets' come back and win by a final of 67-58.
Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball travels to Bridgewater College Saturday, February 12th for a 3:00 ODAC contest.
