Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon topped Randolph, 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The men improved to 4-4-2, 3-1-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), while the WildCats fell to 9-4, 2-4 in conference play.
The win marked the first ever victory over Randolph. Previously named Randolph-Macon Woman's College, the Wildcats entered the ODAC in men's sports in 2008. The men are now 1-3 all-time against RC.
Tommy Fisher paced the Yellow Jackets with two assists and a score on the day. His four points on the afternoon were his first of the year and now have him tied for the team-high this season.
R-MC got out to an early lead when Fisher found David Sullivan, who fired a shot past the keeper just two minutes into play. Randolph would tie the game just six minutes later, when Corey Sindle scored his conference-leading 10th goal of the year off an assist from Jacob Hood. The score remained even throughout the remainder of the first half.
In the 57th minute, Fisher played a ball across the box to Johnny Bustillo who scored his first goal of the year to give R-MC the lead again. Six minutes later, a yellow card was given to Randolph ten yards past midfield. Ethan Cornellio took the free kick, lofting a ball into the box that Fisher headed backwards past the defense for the eventual game-winner. Jacob Lusczek scored for the WildCats with just five seconds remaining to give the final score.
Matty Rocawich picked up his fifth win of the season, recording five saves on the day. CJ Stevens took the loss in goal for Randolph, stopping two shots on the afternoon.
Randolph outshot Randolph-Macon, 13-6, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. The WildCats also held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The men return to action, Wednesday October 12th as they host Virginia Wesleyan. The game is make-up from September 28th. Game-time is set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
