Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon sent it's seniors out with a win in the final home contest of their careers as they topped Shenandoah, 1-0 Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improved to 7-6-2, 6-3-2 in ODAC play, while the Hornets fell to 2-11-2, 0-4-1 in the conference.
Before the contest, R-MC honored its six graduating seniors in Matty Rocawich, Brad Plasha, Tyler Cornelio, Ethan Cornelio, Matt Andes, and Mike Urbanik. With the win, the seniors put themselves in good position to host their first career ODAC Tournament match this Saturday. The victory, pushed the men's winning streak up to three games.
Urbanik got the celebration started early, scoring his team-best fourth goal of the year off a rip from just outside the box two minutes into play. Randolph-Macon held possession for most of the first period, taking the 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Urbanik led the Yellow Jackets with four shots, two on goal. John Peterman paced Shenandoah with four shots, two that tested the keeper.
Cris Lowe picked up his first victory of the year in goal for the Yellow Jackets, recording two saves. Zac Rogers took the loss for the Hornets, stopping five shots.
R-MC outshot SU, 17-7, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. The men also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets return to action this Saturday in the first round of the ODAC Tournament. Their opponent, game location, and time will all be announced tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26th 2011.
