Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon fell to Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0 Monday afternoon. The men dropped to 4-6-2, 3-3-2 in ODAC play, while the Marlins improved to 4-10-1, 2-5 in the conference.
The game was a make-up, originally from September 28th, but had to be rescheduled twice.
R-MC has now dropped four straight contests to VWC. The win was Virginia Wesleyan's first road victory of the year. The Yellow Jackets' last win over the Marlins came in 2005, when they won 2-0 and Virginia Wesleyan was ranked #25 in the country.
An early goal by Tanner East off an assist from Brian Cornell in the ninth minute proved to be the eventual game-winner.
Randolph-Macon had a couple of opportunities to tie things up in the contest, but couldn't get the ball to bounce its way.
Ethan Cornelio led the Yellow Jackets with three shots, two on goal on the afternoon. CJ Loving also put a shot on goal for R-MC. Pops Richards led the Marlins with three shots, two that tested the keeper.
Matty Rocawich took the loss in goal for Randolph-Macon, tying his career high with nine saves. Ryan Zmuda picked up his first win for Virginia Wesleyan, totaling three saves on the day.
R-MC returns to action Wednesday, October 19th as they travel to Harrisonburg to take on Eastern Mennonite. Kick-off is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
