Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon dropped a 3-1 decision to Roanoke Saturday afternoon. The men fell to 4-5-2, 3-2-2 in ODAC play, while the Maroons improved to 11-3-1, 6-0-1 in the conference.
Roanoke, the topped ranked team in the ODAC now holds a 30-16-8 edge in the all-time series. The Maroons have beaten the Yellow Jackets in the last four matches, dating back to 2008 when R-MC topped RC, 2-1.
Randolph-Macon jumped out to an early lead when Fernando Rochi found Mike Urbanik on a cross just five minutes into play. The Yellow Jackets maintained the advantage for the next 20 minutes until Jordan Troyer tied the score at one off a feed from Drew Claytor. The Maroons then took the lead when Christopher Fisher scored the eventual game-winner off a rebound.
In the second stanza, Brian White found the back of the net off a double assist from Jake Mercer and Claytor to give the final score.
John Baskerville and Rochi each placed a shot on goal for the Yellow Jackets, while Johnny Hughes paced the Maroons with three shots on goal. Claytor recorded two assists for Roanoke.
Avery Makel picked up the win in goal for RC, recording two saves on the day. Matty Rocawich took the loss for R-MC, totaling eight stops on the afternoon.
Roanoke outshot Randolph-Macon 15-6, including an 11-3 edge in shots on goal. The Maroons also held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Randolph-Macon returns to action Monday, October 17th as they host Virginia Wesleyan. The match is scheduled to be made up for the second time, originally from September 28th. Kick-off is set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
