ASHLAND, VA – Behind a 16 point, 14 rebound performance by Taylor Wieczorek , the Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball team ran its winning streak to nine games with a 67-53 ODAC win over visiting Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in Ashland.

R-MC (14-4 / 12-1 ODAC) fashioned three players in double figures, led Wieczorek, while Maggie Roy and Molly Brown each had 13 points in the win as well.   Jordan Cantrell had eight points off the bench for R-MC, while Jennifer O'Briant chipped in with seven points as well.

VWC (9-9 / 7-6 ODAC) got a game-high 17 points from Kristen Blalock. Shawnee Lewis also added 10 points in a losing effort as well for the Marlins.

The Yellow Jacket defense held VWC to 29.5% shooting for the game, holding VWC to just 18 made field goals on 61 attempts, including just 2-of-18 from behind the three-point arc. 

Wieczorek's 14 boards led an R-MC assault on the glass that helped the Jackets win the rebounding battle 52-32.  Roy, O'Briant and Christina Phelps all snared six rebounds in the win for Randolph-Macon.

The game was close through the entire first half with the Jackets able to take a 28-23 lead into the locker room after scoring nine of the final 13 points of the half.

R-MC opened the second stanza with an 11-5 run, taking a 39-28 advantage when Cantrell drained a three-pointer with 13:43 to play in the game.

VWC battled back, cutting the Randolph-Macon lead to seven at 46-39 on a bucket by Lewis with 8:39 to go. 

That would be as close as the Marlins would get at the Jackets scored 11 of next 16 points following Lewis' basket, taking a 13 point lead on a jumper by Roy with just over four minutes to play in the game.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday at home when it hosts Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 p.m.
