Box Score Averett's Richard Bjornander scored in the 89th
minute to send the Cougars past Randolph-Macon Men's Soccer
(3-4 / 0-1 ODAC) 2-1 in Danville Wednesday.
Stewart Bath put the Cougars on the board in the 13th
minute when he scored unassisted off of a free kick.
Randolph-Macon struck back 15 minutes into the second half when
senior Andrew Parham found the back of the net on an Ethan Cornelio
corner kick.
The score remained locked at 1-1 until Richard Bjornander scored
with just 41 seconds remaining to put Averett ahead 2-1 which would
prove to be the final.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Cougars 19-15 and also held an
8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Randolph-Macon keeper Philip Marcelo made six stops in goal
while Averett goalie Nate Barker tallied seven saves.
R-MC will be back in action Saturday, September 25th
when they host ODAC rival Hampden-Sydney at 3:00.
