Box Score

SALEM, VA – Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball rallied from a 23 point deficit to pull within eight but Wisconsin-Stevens Point held on for the 72-60 win in the NCAA National Semi-Final at the Salem Civic Center Friday. The Pointers shot 50% in the first half including a 6-for-10 mark from the three point line.

UWSP hit five of its first six shots, jumping out to an early 16-3 lead when Matt Moses knocked down a shot with 14:46 to play in the first half.

On the other end of the spectrum, R-MC missed 15 of its first 18 shots from the field, allowing UWSP to push its advantage to 31-11 on a three-pointer from Jerrell Harris with just over five minutes to go in the opening 20 minutes.

The Jackets would finish the half shooting, a season low 7-of-25 (28%), while UWSP made 13-of-26 shots to take a 38-19 lead into the locker room at the break.

After a Jared Jenkins three made the score 44-21 in favor of the Pointers with just under 18 minutes to play, R-MC went on a 16-5 run capped by an Adam Desgain trifecta to make the score 47-33 with 13:32 to go.

R-MC continued to chip away, and pulled within 10 at 57-47, after Calvin Croskey converted a pair of shots from the charity step with 4:51 left.

A bucket by Brandon Braxton with just over three minutes on clock brought cut the R-MC deficit to single digits at 59-51, but that would be as close as the Jackets would get as the Pointers knocked down their foul shots to finish with a 72-60 victory.

Desgain led R-MC with 14 points and a 2-for-3 mark from the three point line. Danny Jones also finished in double figures with 11 points to go with five rebounds.

Jenkins paced four Pointers in double figure scoring with 17 points. Louis Hurd finished with 14 points including a 4-for-4 mark from three.

Randolph-Macon finishes their 2009-10 season with 26 wins, third most in the program's history and earned their first ever trip to the NCAA Division III Final Four. The Yellow Jackets will return their top 12 minute takers and scorers for the 2010-11 season.
