Box Score ASHLAND, VA-Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball shot 79.2% in the
second half to outscore Guilford College 44-16 and win their
15th ODAC game 79-50. The Yellow Jackets improve to 17-6
overall and 15-4 in the ODAC, securing the number two seed for the
ODAC tournament.
R-MC and GC traded baskets throughout the first half resulting
in six ties and seven lead changes. Taylor Wieczorek (Grasonville,
MD/ Severn) dropped in a layup with 2:03 to go in the first half to
put the Yellow Jackets up 35-34, a lead which they would take into
the locker room for halftime.
Guilford's Alexa Williams scored the first four points of the
second half to put the Quakers up three with 19:03 remaining.
Two minutes later, Freshman Guard Jordan Cantrell (Washington,
NC/ Washington) drained a jumper to spark an 18-0 R-MC run that was
capped by Molly Brown (Floyd, VA/ Floyd County) at the 12:22 mark.
Wieczorek converted an old fashioned three point play with 4:54
to go, propelling the Yellow Jackets to a 13-1 game ending run and
a 79-50 victory.
Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/Severn) finished with 14 points,
leading five Yellow Jackets in double figures. Brown dropped in 13
points, Molly Ariail (York, PA/York Suburban) and Jillian Asay
(Chesterfield, NJ/ No. Burlington Co.) chipped in with 12 points to
go along with nine boards for Ariail and six for Asay. Maggie Roy
(Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) had ten points and six assists.
Jazlyn Gibbs scored a team high 12 points for Guilford. Ann
Seufer and Williams finished with 11 points each.
Randolph-Macon will play their final game of the 2009-10 regular
season Saturday, February 20th, when they host Emory and
Henry College at 3:00 p.m. Before Saturday's game, R-MC will honor
their two seniors Molly Ariail and Renee Stein.
