Box Score Yellow Jackets' senior Katie Williams poured in a game high 18 points as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball (4-2 / 2-1 ODAC) downed defending ODAC champs Washington and Lee 72-55 in Ashland Saturday.
Maggie Roy opened R-MC's scoring with a three pointer as the Yellow Jackets scored nine of the game's first 11 points.
W&L pulled within six when Kari Ann Pfannenstein knocked down a three with 13:17 left in the first half.
Freshman center Lindsay Sharman converted a pair of free throws three minutes later to start an 11-2 Randolph-Macon run that was capped by two foul shots from Katie Williams to put the Jackets up 27-12 with under three left in the first.
R-MC took a 33-18 advantage into the locker room for halftime after shooting 42.3% in the first half.
A Taylor Wieczorek jumper seconds into the second half stretched the Jackets' lead to 35-18 but the Generals then rallied to score ten of the next 13 to pull within 10 at 38-28.
That would be as close as Washington and Lee would come as Randolph-Macon used 63% second half shooting to pull away for the 72-55 ODAC victory.
Williams went 7-for-12 from the field including a 2-for-3 mark from three in the second half. The senior also had three steals and four rebounds to go with her 18 points. Sharman and Wieczorek added 12 points each while Molly Brown joined in double figures with ten.
Meg Ingram paced the Generals with 16 points while Pfannenstein scored 14 with six rebounds. Katy Wilson pulled in a team high eight boards to go with her nine points.
Randolph-Macon held a 38-27 rebounding edge and also shot 52.8% for the game while W&L shot 36.4%
The Yellow Jackets return to the court Tuesday, December 7th when they travel to Randolph College for a 7:00 ODAC match up.
