Box Score Andrew Parham headed in a Rodrigo Walsh miss in the
80th minute to give Randolph-Macon Men's Soccer
(5-5-1 / 2-2-1 ODAC) a 1-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite in
Ashland Tuesday.
Both Randolph-Macon and Eastern Mennonite took five first half
shots but could not find the back of the net.
R-MC picked up the offense in the second half, taking 11 shots
and two corner kicks. The Yellow Jackets' second half attack
paid off in the 80th minute when Rodrigo Walsh was
awarded a free kick from just outside the box.
Walsh's shot was punched off the crossbar by Royal's
keeper Ryan Baker but bounced in front of the net and was headed in
by the Yellow Jackets' senior midfielder Andrew Parham.
The Randolph-Macon defense, led by goalie Matty Rocawich,
remained tough throughout the final ten minutes to preserve the 1-0
victory. Rocawich finished with four saves for the game.
R-MC outshot EMU 16-10 and held a 3-1 advantage in corners. The
Yellow Jackets pick up the win despite 13 offside calls.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action Saturday, October
9th when they host Emory and Henry for a 2:00 ODAC
match.
