Box Score ASHLAND, VA-- Katie Williams had a double-double and Molly
Ariail scored 21, as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball improved to
8-2 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC with a 96-59 victory over Hollins
University Saturday afternoon in Ashland.
The Yellow Jackets' Ariail (York, PA/York Suburban) scored the
first two points of the game with a jumper, starting a 20-4 opening
run, capped by a layup from Madison Dulaney (Kernersville,
NC/Glenn) with 12:14 left in the first half.
Stephanie Grune (Virginia Beach, VA/ Cape Henry) put
Randolph-Macon up 50-25 with a two point jumper 42 seconds before
halftime. The 25 point advantage would hold through the end of the
first half.
The Yellow Jackets continued to build their lead into the second
half on 42.9% shooting in the second half alone.
Renee Stein sparked a 10-1 R-MC run when she converted a layup
with 7:05 left to play. The run was capped by a layup from Williams
(Warrenton, VA/Fauquier).
Randolph-Macon would lead by as many as 40 before winning by a
final of 96-59.
Ariail paced the Yellow Jackets' offense with 21 points while
pulling in seven rebounds and four steals, in just 19 minutes of
playing time. Williams had 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists
for a double-double. Taylor Wieczorek added to the offense with 18
points and 8 rebounds.
Hollins' Guard Jasmine Greene led all scorers with 22 points and
a team high nine rebounds. Tamara Phillips chipped in with 18
points and four made three pointers.
The Yellow Jackets return to the court Monday, January
11th, when they travel to the University of Mary
Washington for a 7:00 p.m. game.
