Box Score ASHLAND, VA--Three Yellow Jackets scored in double figures and
R-MC never trailed as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball downed
Washington and Lee 70-50 in Ashland Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets started the game on a 20-9 run capped by
Taylor Wieczorek's (Grasonville, MD/ Severn) free throw with 7:39
to go in the first stanza. Randolph-Macon took a 31-21 lead into
the half after shooting 4 for 10 from beyond the arc in the first
20 minutes of play.
In the second half, R-MC shot 46.9% from the field and led by as
many as 25. Molly Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) sparked the
attack with 22 points, 18 coming in the second half. Ariail
finished just a rebound shy of her 6th straight
double-double and had six steals and four blocks.
Sophomore Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin) scored 17
points and had three steals. Jennifer O'Briant (Chesterfield, VA/
Manchester) joined Ariail and Roy in double figures with 13 points
and five assists.
Becca Bolton led Washington and Lee with 12 points and seven
rebounds. Rachel Warrick chipped in with 11 points and four
rebounds.
Randolph-Macon improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in ODAC play. The
Yellow Jackets will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to
Randolph College for a 7:00 p.m. game.
