Box Score ASHLAND, VA-Molly Ariail and Taylor Wieczorek combined for 39
points as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball topped Lynchburg
College 95-67 in Ashland Tuesday. With the win, R-MC improves to
11-3 (9-1 ODAC) while LC falls to 4-11 (3-8 ODAC)
Yellow Jackets' sophomore Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills
Godwin) knocked down a jumper with 11:09 to play in the first,
capping a 25-7 run to open the game. R-MC would lead by
double digits for the remainder of the contest.
Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) sunk a layup with 1:58 left in
the first half to give Randolph-Macon their largest lead of the
half 42-19. Lynchburg cut the deficit to 45-27 going into
intermission.
The Hornets rallied to pull within 13 at 52-39 when Tamara Snead
converted a layup with 17:21 to go but, that would be as close as
Lynchburg would come.
Randolph-Macon benefited from 54% shooting, including 46.7% from
beyond the arc to build a 28 point advantage which would hold until
the final buzzer as the Yellow Jackets took a 95-67 victory.
Ariail led a trio of Yellow Jackets in double figure scoring
with 21 points and nine rebounds. Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/
Severn) totaled 18 and points and seven rebounds in just 17 minutes
on the floor. Roy chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.
Lynchburg had four players reach double digit points, led by
Chevonne Booker with 20. Snead and Carly Greenlief added 11 points
each while Courtney Brewer chipped in with 10.
R-MC Women's Hoops will be back in action Saturday, January
23rd, when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 4:00
p.m. tip off.
