Walsh Finds Net as Randolph-Macon Ties Averett 1-1
ASHLAND, VA-Randolph-Macon
Men's Soccer Freshman Rodrigo Walsh netted a goal in the 63rd
minute as the Yellow Jackets tied Averett 1-1 in Ashland Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Walsh netted a
pass from Ethan Cornelio in the 63rd minute to put R-MC
up 1-0.
The Yellow Jacket defense silenced the Cougar
attack until the final minute when AU Freshman Richard Bjornander
scored with 31 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Averett made several offensive pushes in the
overtime periods, but the Randolph-Macon defense held strong and
the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Cougars held a 24-13 shot advantage and also
led in corners 5-0.
Yellow Jacket Keeper Colin Royster collected
eight saves while Cougar Keeper Nate Barker stopped two shots.
Randolph-Macon Men's Soccer will be back in
action Wednesday, September 30th when they travel to
Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 p.m. match.
