Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA - R-MC Sophomore Maggie Roy scored 24 points as
Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball (4-1, 2-1) overcame a 17
point first half deficit to down Bridgewater 81-72 Saturday.
Bridgewater started the game on a 21-4 run capped by a layup
from Jordan Burkholder. Burkholder finished the game with a team
high 22 points and five rebounds.
After trading baskets, the Eagles reestablished a 17 point lead
at 29-12 with 8:24 left to go in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets then went on an 8-0 run capped by a three
pointer from Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin). Roy finished with a
game high 24 points.
Kristin Bosserman converted a layup for the Eagles at the
halftime buzzer to extend their lead to nine points. Bosserman
totaled 14 points and three rebounds for BC.
Bridgewater came out of the intermission firing with a 7-2 run
to go up 48-34, 18:05 remaining.
Randolph-Macon pulled within six points after an 11-3 run
sparked by a jumper from Roy.
The Yellow Jackets continued to chip away at the Eagles' led
before Jordan Cantrell (Washington, NC/ Washington) hit a jumper
with 4:32 to go to tie the game at 66-66.
In R-MC's next possession, Roy sunk a three pointer to put
Randolph-Macon ahead for the remainder of the contest.
The Yellow Jackets' shot 48% from the field in second half
including four for nine from beyond the arc and led by as many as
11 in the final minutes.
Senior Molly Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) recorded her
fourth straight double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the
win. Cantrell chipped in with 11 points, all of them coming in the
second half. Taylor Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/ Severn) added 12
points and five rebounds for Randolph-Macon.
Jenny Logan joined a trio of Bridgewater players in double-digit
points with 11 and six rebounds.
Randolph-Macon Women's Hoops will be back in action December
30th, when they travel to Christopher Newport University
for a 7:00 p.m. game.
