Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA-- R-MC Senior Molly Ariail's third consecutive
double-double was not enough as the Yellow Jackets fell to
Lynchburg 68-65 in Lynchburg Tuesday night. Randolph-Macon falls to
3-1 overall and 1-1 in the ODAC.
The Yellow Jackets started the game on a 9-0 run capped by a
two-point jumper from Renee Stein (Harrisonburg, VA/ Spotswood).
Stein finished with four points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Lynchburg then went on a 12-3 run to tie the game on a layup by
Leah Bonuccelli. LC finished the half shooting 45% to build a 41-34
halftime advantage.
The Hornets extended the halftime lead to 10 points with 15:06
to go when Caitlin Falls connected on a free throw. Falls totaled
12 points and two rebounds for LC.
Behind 48% second half shooting, Randolph-Macon began chipping
away at the Lynchburg lead and tied the game at 60-60 on a layup by
Stein.
LC responded with a 6-0 run to take a 66-60 lead with 2:30 left
in the game.
Yellow Jacket junior Katie Williams (Warrenton, VA/ Fauquier)
pulled Randolph-Macon within one at 66-65 when she converted a
layup with 35 second to go. Williams finished with 14 points.
Lynchburg's Danielle Moorad connected on two foul shots to
extend their lead to 68-65, which would hold to be the final.
Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) led all scorers with 20 points
and 12 rebounds for her third straight double-double. Moorad scored
a team high 13 points for Lynchburg.
