Box Score Randolph-Macon Overcomes Early Deficit to Down Virginia

Wieczorek's jumper with 2:22 to go in the first half put the Yellow
Jackets up for good as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball downed
ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan College 76-58 in Ashland Tuesday
night.
Randolph-Macon found themselves
down eleven with 9:09 to go in the first half when Maggie Davis
completed an 8-2 Virginia Wesleyan run with a layup. Davis scored
14 and pulled in a team high eight rebounds.
R-MC Senior Renee Stein's
(Harrisonburg, VA/ Spotswood) jumper with 8:18 to go in the first
sparked a 14-2 Yellow Jacket run capped by a three pointer from
Jordan Cantrell (Washington, NC/ Washington) to put Randolph-Macon
up 22-21. The freshman Cantrell went two for three from beyond the
arc and finished with seven points.
Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills
Godwin) knocked down a three point jumper just before halftime to
put the Yellow Jackets up 31-25 heading into the intermission. Roy
finished with 12 points and four assists.
Virginia Wesleyan pulled within
four with 16:07 left to go on a layup by Kristen Blalock but that
was as close as the Marlins would come as the Yellow Jackets shot
66.7% in the second half to build an 18 point advantage and put the
rival Marlins away 76-58.
R-MC's Molly Ariail (York, PA/ York
Suburban) recorded her second straight double-double with a game
high 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/ Severn)
set a career high with 14 points and also pulled in five boards for
the Yellow Jackets.
Tonia Jones led Virginia Wesleyan
with 21 points and making three of six shots from beyond the arc.
Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball
will be back in action Tuesday, December 1st, when they
travel to Lynchburg College for a 7:00 p.m. game.
