ASHLAND, VA - The Randolph-Macon
volleyball team clinched its first ever No. 1 ODAC Tournament seed
with 3-0 win over Randolph on Wednesday night in Ashland.
The Jackets won by game scores of
25-17, 25-14 and 25-4 to improve to 21-5 overall and 9-1 in the
ODAC. R-MC will be seeded No. 1 in the annual ODAC Tournament and
will play the yet to be determined No. 8 seed Friday, November
6th at 4:00 p.m. at Hollins University.
In the win over Randolph, Jordan
Huber (Palm Harbor, Fla./Palm Harbor), one of six seniors playing
their final home match led R-MC with 11 kills. Raena Winton had
nine kills as well. Senior Savanna Love (Clifton, VA / Robinson
Secondary) dished out 11 assists, while Sam Block (Charlottesville,
Va./Albermarle ) had 10 helpers.
Seniors Jill Kubichan (Chesapeake,
VA/Great Bridge) and Andrea Gonzalez (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge)
led the way defensively with 12 and 10 digs, respectively in the
win. Their classmates Alix Macrae (Radnor, PA/Radnor) and April
Hines (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) each had two blocks at the net
for the Jackets.
Randolph-Macon will be in action
next at the Emory University Tournament in Georgia. R-MC will take
on LaGrange at 2:00 and Birmingham Southern at 4:30 on Friday.
