Virginia Wesleyan Scores Twice in the Second Half to
Down R-MC 3-1
ASHLAND, VA-Job Merkel put Randolph-Macon Men's
Soccer up 1-0 with a goal in the first half, but Virginia Wesleyan
rallied late to down the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in Ashland Wednesday.
Merkel netted an unassisted goal in the second minute to give
R-MC an early 1-0 lead.
VWC took advantage of a penalty kick just before halftime to tie
the game at 1-1.
Brandon Massie and Harrison Myrdal put the Marlins in front 3-1
with goals in the 65th and 66th minutes.
The 3-1 score would hold to be the final.
Keeper Colin Royster stopped nine shots for the Yellow Jackets.
Virginia Wesleyan held a 30-6 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge
in corner kicks.
Randolph-Macon Men's Soccer will travel to Lynchburg Saturday,
October 24th for a 1:00 p.m. match.
