Lindsay Riesbeck Joins 1,000-Point Club as R-MC

Ashland, Va. - R-MC senior Lindsay Riesbeck registered 12
points, including her 1,000th career tally, as the
Yellow Jackets defeated Randolph College 79-43. Eleven different
R-MC players scored to help snap the team's three-game losing
streak. Senior guard Amanda Hiltunen led all players with 20
points.
The Yellow Jackets (5-4, 3-2 ODAC) jumped out to a 34-8
lead with 6:18 remaining in the first half when freshman Maggie Roy
found Hiltunen, who drained a three-pointer. Hiltunen tallied 17
points in the first stanza to help R-MC build a 38-18 lead at the
break.
R-MC continued to control the tempo of the game in the
second stanza, building a 61-25 lead midway through the second
half. After a missed three-point attempt by Randolph's Lindsay
Cross, junior Renee Stein fed Riesbeck, whose layup marked her
1,000th career point and gave the Yellow Jackets a
38-point lead.
Every R-MC player logged at least nine minutes. The Yellow
Jackets received 22 points from its bench, including nine from
freshman Jillian Asay. Senior Rachel Parker tallied four points and
pulled down four rebounds.
Molly Ariail grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Yellow
Jackets. Randolph's Michelle Brockman led the WildCats (1-7, 1-5
ODAC) with a double-double, recording 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Riesbeck becomes the third Yellow Jacket to break the
1,000 point plateau this season. Ariail accomplished the feat on
Sunday against Washington & Lee, while Hiltunen hit the
millennium mark on December 1 against Lynchburg.
The Yellow Jackets head west for a pair of ODAC games this
weekend. R-MC takes on Roanoke on Friday at 7:00. The second-place
Maroons own a 4-1 conference record and sit one game above the
Yellow Jackets in the ODAC standings. R-MC plays Hollins on
Saturday at 2:00.
