Victory

ASHLAND, Va. --- Catholic University spoiled the opening
match of R-MC Men's Soccer's 2008 season, topping the Yellow
Jackets 2-1 in the second game of the Randolph-Macon/Select Classic
in Ashland.
CUA (1-0-0) cracked the scoreboard first when in the
13th minute a play, the Cardinals served a ball into the
box on a set piece. The ball batted around before it was collected
by Tyler Bills whose shot was initially stopped by R-MC keeper
Jason DePre, but the rebound found the foot of Adrian Davis who put
the ball in the back of the net.
The game would remain 1-0 in favor of Catholic until the
49th minute of play when Mike Urbanik took a feed from
Tyler Cornelio and bent a shot over the head of CUA keeper Quinn
Daly to give the Jackets the equalizer.
The Cardinals tallied what proved to be the game winner in the
59th minute when Kevin Duffy sent Matt Brady in alone on
and Brady slipped a shot under a charging DePre to give Catholic
the win.
CU outshot R-MC 9-6 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
DePre made three saves in the afternoon, while Daly posted two
saves in the win.
R-MC will take on Wesley tomorrow at 2:30. The Wolverines
grabbed an overtime win over Randolph-College 2-1, on a penalty
kick in the 98th in the tournament's opening game
on Saturday. Randolph and Catholic play at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
