Softball History

On May 19, 2023, RMC won their 41st game of the season in an elimination game over Ramapo in the Ashland Softball Regional 5-2. The win marked the most wins in Yellow Jacket softball history (previously 40 in 2018). The softball team went on to defeat Swarthmore twice in the final day of the regional, and thus to let RMC to hosting its first super regional in school history. The monumental season saw the Yellow Jackets sweep sixth ranked Virginia Wesleyan at home in early april, and again took two games out of three, against the Marlins in pod two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, then ranked 13th. The season ended with RMC, hosting 20th nationally ranked Rowan in the Ashland Super Regional, in the winner take all game.

The Yellow Jackets have had two twenty plus win seasons at home, including going undefeated at home in 2013 (23-0). The softball team longest home winning streak mounted to 27 from 2012-2014, which included the undefeated 23-0, posted in 2013. Since 2018 RMC softball has gone 91-19 (.827) at home, that also includes hosting back-to-back regionals in 2022, 2023 and a super regional in 2023. The Yellow Jackets have posted a 49-11 record at home, during the seasons of 2016-2023. On March 19, 2019 the softball team defeated No. 1 ranked Virginia Wesleyan at home, in which RMC was ranked 24th at the time.

Heading into the 2024 season, Randolph-Macon is 302-156-1 all-time on the RMC Softball Field since the debut of the field in the 1999 season. The first ever win at the RMC Softball Field came as an 8-3 thrilling win of Mary Washington on March 3, 2000.
