Baseball History

On May 24-25, 2024, Randolph-Macon baseball was chosen to host the NCAA Super Regional at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park. The Yellow Jackets played Adrian College for a three game series, and defeated the Bulldogs in the third game by a score of 9-6 to claim a bid to the Division III College World Series for the second time in program history.

On April 16, 2023, RMC won their 20th game of the season at home against nationally ranked No. 3 Shenandoah in a close 8-7 ballgame. The win broke the school record for most wins at home since the Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park was called home for the baseball team in 2011. The Yellow Jackets also defeated nationally ranked CNU and Methodist both at Estes Park in the 2023 home season. The season also saw the baseball team post a 9-2 conference record at home. The home success during the 2023 season helped catapult RMC to its first regional since 2018.

During the 2018 season the Yellow Jackets baseball team garnered a 17-4-1 home record, by defeating No. 7 Roanoke on April 28 at home; RMC hoasted its first ODAC regular season title since 1987. In the 2019 season, baseball defeated Washington and Lee at home 5-3 to claim its second straight ODAC regular season title.

Since the 2015 season the RMC baseball team has mounted a 161-48-2 (.763) record at home. The Yellow Jackets have also taken down 21 nationally ranked programs at home since the complex opened in 2011.

Following the 2024 season, Randolph-Macon baseball is 206-80-3 all-time at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park since the debut of the field in the 2011 season. The first ever win at the facility came as a 6-1 split doubleheader win of St Mary’s (Md.) on February 12, 2011.
