Christian Taylor will head into his fifth season as the head coach of Randolph-Macon Men's Volleyball in 2026.  He currently holds a record of 75-47 (61.5%) overall, and a 12-0 ODAC record.

in 2025, the first season the ODAC sponsored men's Volleyball, Taylor coached the Yellow Jackets to a 22-10 record overall and 12-0 in conference play. Taylor capped off the successful season by sweeping second seeded Roanoke to earn their first ODAC title in program history and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. Taylor added to the accolades of the season by receiving ODAC Coach of the Year honors and being named to the AVCA thirty under 30 list. He coached five All-ODAC players and received CSC academic All-District Men's At-Large honors.

In 2024, Taylor led RMC to a record of 18-11 while going 5-3 in CVC play, earning a home postseason contest for the second season in a row. The Yellow Jackets won 13 of 15 games from February 24 to April 2, helping them get back into the national conversation. Three players were selected to the All-CVC teams and four grabbed Academic All-CVC recognition. Taylor was selected to coach the Division III USA Team in Brazil, while Kody Rogan was selected to play on the team.

In 2023, Taylor and the Yellow Jackets finished with a record of 16-15 (5-3).  Taylor's second season in Ashland was a tall task as RMC would face a very difficult schedule.  The Yellow Jackets faced nine nationally ranked teams during the season in only the fifth year of the program's existence.  Taylor would lead the team to beat three of those scheduled teams, which is the most wins against nationally ranked teams in program history.  In conclusion of the season, RMC's record was good enough to host a quarterfinal match in Ashland against Rutgers-Newark.  In 2023, Taylor coached a lot of players to individual awards.  This includes two FrogJump All-Freshman team selections, four CVC All-Conference team selections, a CVC Rookie of the Year, AVCA Region Newcomer of the Year, and six CVC All-Conference academic team selections.

In Taylor's first season as head coach in 2022, he led the Yellow Jackets to a 19-11 record (4-4).  Taylor had the team off to a hot start in his debut season as they won their first eight games, making it the best start in program history.  RMC would continue to make history on this historic run by capping off their undefeated start with the program's first ever win over a nationally ranked opponent.  Later on in the season, the Yellow Jackets would string together another win streak, this time being six games.  This run would propel RMC to the CVC tournament for the second straight season, and faced Marymount in the quarterfinals.  In 2022, players under coach Taylor would take home multiple individual awards.  The program had three CVC All-Conference team selections and six CVC All-Conference academic selections.

On May 21, 2021, Jeff Burns, R-MC Director of Athletics, announced the promotion of Christian Taylor as head coach of the Yellow Jacket men’s volleyball program.

“I would like to thank President Robert R. Lindgren and Director of Athletics Jeff Burns for entrusting me to lead the young men on the Randolph-Macon men’s volleyball team,” Taylor said. “I look forward to continuing to build on the growth this program has shown in its early years and I look forward to facilitating the growth our student-athletes as young men and players.”

For the past two years, Taylor has been an assistant coach at R-MC. He worked directly with the offensive system, assisted with recruiting, and helped with film breakdown and scouting of opponents.

“Randolph-Macon has a history of finding and developing young coaches who value the mission of the College, build outstanding programs, and provide first class experiences for our student-athletes,” Burns said. “Christian is well-known, respected and connected in the volleyball community and is the perfect fit for our program moving forward.”

Additionally over the past two years, Taylor had been the head coach of the 15-and-under National travel team for the Old Dominion Volleyball Academy in Richmond, Va. He helped the team become silver bracket champions of the Florida Fest bid tournament.

Taylor has been the assistant varsity volleyball coach at Deep Run High School in Richmond for the past two years. He has also been as assistant coach at Eastern Mennonite High School as well as a head coach and assistant coach for the Richmond Volleyball Club.

A 2015 graduate of Deep Run High School, Taylor was a three-time All-Conference selection as well as All-Metro First Team, All-Region First Team and All-Virginia First Team as a senior. Deep Run was a Virginia State Tournament Finalist in 2014.

Taylor played for three seasons at Eastern Mennonite University. He was second in the nation in NCAA Division III with 1,251 assists in 2017 and 1,198 assists in 2018. Taylor made the CVC All-Tournament Team in 2017 and was All-CVC Second Team in 2018. He was a three-time member of the CVC All-Academic Team. Taylor earned a B.S. in Business Administration & Recreational Leadership and Sports Studies with a minor in Coaching in 2018. He graduated Cum Laude.

For his final year of eligibility, Taylor enrolled in graduate school at Stevenson University. He was All-MAC First Team in 2019 and helped the Mustangs earn an NCAA National Ranking of No. 3, the highest in program history. The team finished with a 30-4 mark.

Taylor concluded his career with 4,154 assists, the fifth-highest total in NCAA Division III history at the time. He finished with 486 digs, 214 total blocks and 95 kills.

While in grad school at Stevenson, Taylor is pursuing his MBA in Business and Technology Management with a concentration on Strategic Leadership. He should receive his degree later this month.
