Biography
Ben Delia is embarking on his fourth year as head coach ofthe Randolph-Macon women's swimming program and his first as thehead coach of the newly formed men's program.
Over the course of his first three seasons in Ashland, Deliahas led R-MC to a 23 dual meet wins and threesecond-place finishes at the ODAC Championships.
In 2008-09, the Jackets went 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC.Under the direction of Delia, 113 swimmers set lifetime best swims.R-MC's 11 dual meet wins - set a single season record, while eightJackets were named to the All-ODAC team. Six different swimmershelped set new Estes Aquatic Center pool records, while fiveswimmers set six school records as well.
In his first season in 2007-08, Delia help R-MC to an 8-3 dualmeet record, including a 6-1 mark against ODAC foes. The YellowJackets capped off the season with a second-place showing at theODAC and Atlantic States Championships in February.
Delia came to the Yellow Jackets program after a stint as anassistant coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and asuccessful four-year career at Hamilton College in Clinton, NewYork.
During his time at Trinity, Delia assisted in all phases of theBantams swimming and diving program, including on deck coaching,recruiting, team travel, fundraising and other administrativeduties. Delia helped Trinity to six dual meet wins in 2006-07 andguided swimmers to a host of school and freshmen records whileassisting four swimmers to USA Sectional qualifying times.
As a student-athlete, Delia was a member of the New EnglandSmall College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) all-league team and wasa championship finalist on several occasions.
Delia is a native of Oswego, New York and graduated fromHamilton in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and aconcentration in economics. Delia also earned his Master's Degreein economics from Trinity College in 2007.
