Biography

Dan Kanach is entering his sixth season on the sidelinesfor the Yellow Jackets women's lacrosse program in 2009-10.

During his first five seasons, Kanach has led his squads to acombined 45 wins and a 27-10 mark against ODAC foes.

In 2007, the Yellow Jackets went 10-5 and 5-2 in the league,finishing fourth in the South Regional Rankings.

After serving on an interim basis in 2004-05, Dan Kanach was officially named head women's lacrosse coach at Randolph-Macon inAugust 2005. He came to the school in fall 2004 from Thomas EdisonHigh School in Fairfax County, Virginia, where he was head girls'lacrosse coach for two years.

Kanach's 2005 Randolph-Macon squad finished 10-6 overall, andmade the program's first appearance in the Old Dominion AthleticConference tournament championship game since 2002. The team had asix-game winning streak during the season, and won nine of the lasttwelve games.

At Thomas Edison in 2004, Kanach led his team to the districtchampionship. The team had a runner-up finish in 2003. Prior totaking over the girls' program there, Kanach was head juniorvarsity and assistant varsity boys' lacrosse coach from 1999 to2002. He also served as assistant indoor winter track coach forthose four years.

Kanach graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.in 1999. There, he was a four-year varsity letterwinner on themen's lacrosse team. His team reached the final four of the NCAADivision I tournament when he was a senior in 1999, and that yearKanach was named the team's most improved player. He earnedBachelor of Arts degrees in English and studio art.

In addition to his Georgetown education, Kanach also attendedgraduate school at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.to earn a collegiate teaching license.

"It's an honor to work with this great group ofstudent-athletes," Kanach says. "From day one, the players andparents in this program have been dedicated to takingRandolph-Macon to the top. I am proud of how the team performed in2005, and now it's time to take it to the next level."

Kanach and his wife, Kate, live in Ashland with their daughter,Darcy and son Rowan.
