ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Emily Villacrusis (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) sat in 10th out of 36 individuals and helped the Randolph-Macon women's golf team place fourth Saturday after the first round of the R-MC Fall Invitational at the Hanover Golf Club.
Villacrusis shot 89, nine strokes behind leader Casey Oppenheimer of Stevenson. Villacrusis had five pars during her round, including four on the back nine.
Senior Colleen Connolly (Winchester, Va./John Handley) tied for 14th at 91. She also recorded five pars.
Freshman Chae Han (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) shot 97, followed by freshman Madeline Brahler (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) at 100 and freshman Molly Bauhan (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) at 105. Junior Elizabeth Magee (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's), playing as an independent, shot 111.
The second and final round of the R-MC Fall Invitational will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29. The first groups will tee off at 11 a.m.
