Dana Wood in in his 14th season as an assistant coach for Kevin Proffitt.

Wood, who is a 1976 graduate of Randolph-Macon College, was a member of the Yellow Jackets' baseball program under legendary head coach Hugh Stephens.

He has helped with the continued success of the softball program, including the 2017 NCAA Ashland Regional, 2015 ODAC Championship and three NCAA Tournament Regional appearances.

Wood began his coaching career in 1989 and in 1994 was instrumental in starting Ashland Little League's "fast pitch" softball division. He has also coached AAU baseball teams to several state titles. Wood has also coached varsity high school softball at near by Patrick Henry High School. The Patriots captured the Colonial District Championship in 2006, 2007 & 2010.

Away from the diamond, Wood is an avid supporter of all Yellow Jacket athletics.

A local business owner, Wood lives in Ashland with his wife Cathy and the couple has four grown children.
