ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team. The ITA also named six Women's Tennis Yellow Jackets as All-Academic Scholar Athletes. The six women were joined by Men's Tennis rising sophomore Ryan Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial), who was named a All-Academic Scholar Athlete as well.
The six women recognized were recent graduate Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary), rising seniors Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) and Morgan Fuqua (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin), rising junior Melissa Pritchard (Chesterfield, Va. / Cosby) and rising sophomores Rachael Johnston (Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley) and Bailey Willard (Fredericksburg, Va. / Stafford Senior).
This is the second year in a row both Yeager and Dantzler have been honored. Fuqua was honored for her freshmen and sophomore years at Shenandoah. Dantzler was recently named a Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American, which is believed to be the first such award in program history. She was also named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State team. All seven student-athletes honored were also named All-Academic by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference last week.
To qualify for the team honor from the ITA, teams must boast a team GPA of 3.2 or better for the entire academic year. Individually, student-athletes must boast a GPA of 3.5 or better for the entire academic year.
