R-MC Men's Golf Tied for Second after Round 1 of ODAC Championship

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The Randolph-Macon men's golf team has three individuals in the Top 10 and the team is tied for second out of 12 schools after the first round of the ODAC Championship at the Bryan Park Champions Course.

Guilford, ranked No. 6 in the nation in Division III, tops the standings at 292. The Yellow Jackets are nine shots back, tied with 10th-ranked Washington and Lee at 301. R-MC is ahead of 14th-ranked Hampden-Sydney, which sits in fourth at 306.

Junior Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) and freshman Ryan Fernandez (Selagor, Malaysia) are tied for seventh out of 60 individuals at two-over 74. Nelson had four birdies, including three in a row on the front nine. Fernandez carded five birdies, with three coming on the front side.

Senior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) is one shot behind his teammates, tied for 10th at 75. He had a pair of birdies on the front nine and had an eagle 3 on No. 11.

Senior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) is three strokes behind Razzetti at 78. He was four-under on the final four holes, with an eagle 3 on No. 15, a par 4 on No. 16, and birdie 3 on both No. 17 and No. 18. Childers also had a birdie on No. 8.

Senior Christian Fagan (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) rounded out the R-MC quintet by shooting 93. He had a pair of birdies on the front nine.

The second round will be played on Monday.
