Michael Townsend joins the coaching staff with a decorated resume familiar to those that follow the sport across the state. He is the former head coach at Patrick Henry High School who led the Patriots to four consecutive state championships from 2016 through 2019.

In addition to leading Patrick Henry, Townsend has extensive experience at the national club level where he previously served as a head coach and assistant coach over the past decade.

Townsend played collegiately at Emmanuel from 2006 through 2010 and started as an outside hitter all four seasons. His final three years he served as the team captain. He went on to earn Rookie of the Year accolades for both Emmanuel College and the Northeastern Conference Volleyball Association and become a four-time all-conference selection. He was Emmanuel College’s Athlete of the Year in 2010, and ended his collegiate career as the all-time leader in kills, digs, and aces.
