Anthony Named Preseason All-American

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon junior Buzz Anthony has been named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Fourth Team.

A native of Arnold, Md., and a graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School, Anthony was the 2019 ODAC Player of the Year. The point guard averaged 15.6 points per game. He was first in the conference and fifth in the nation with 180 assists, an average of 5.8 per contest. Anthony was seventh in the country in assist/turnover ratio at 3.21. He led the team with 157 rebounds, an average of 5.1 per game.

Anthony was the only ODAC player on the list and the only player from a school in the state of Virginia.

The Yellow Jackets went 27-4 overall and 15-1 in ODAC play. R-MC won its third consecutive conference regular-season crown. R-MC received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.

Under fifth-year head coach Josh Merkel, Randolph-Macon will open the regular season in the Dan Greene/Wayne Cook Memorial Tournament, facing Washington College on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. and host St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 12 p.m.
