SALEM, Va. - Senior Lamont Moore (Waverly, Va./Tidewater Academy) had 12 points and six rebounds in his final collegiate game as the seventh-seeded Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped a 78-52 decision to second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan Friday evening in the quarterfinals of the 2016 ODAC Tournament in the Salem Civic Center.
The Yellow Jackets finished their season at 13-14.
Sophomore Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) converted a three-pointer and a layup as R-MC took an early 5-0 lead before VWC tallied 10 straight points to lead 10-5 with 13:50 left in the first half. Junior Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) hit two buckets as the Yellow Jackets pulled within one at 10-9. The Marlins (18-8) used a 9-2 spurt to take a 19-11 advantage with 8:55 remaining. VWC led 28-17 before R-MC scored six straight to make it 28-23 with 4:35 left. The Marlins closed the half on an 11-4 run to take a 39-27 lead at the break. Noe registered nine points and four rebounds in the first period.
VWC started the second half on an 8-2 run to extend its lead to 47-29 with 17:20 left in the game. The lead grew to 31 at 72-41 with just under five minutes left before the Marlins claimed a 78-52 victory.
Noe finished with 11 points and six boards. Freshman Jon Nowell (Riverdale, Ga./Blair Academy) had eight points and four rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.
R-MC was held to its lowest point total of the season.
