LEXINGTON, Va. - Senior Lamont Moore (Waverly, Va./Tidewater Academy) led all scorers with 21 points and sophomore Sean Ryan (Plainfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) tallied a career-high 14 points as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team registered an 80-46 ODAC victory at Washington and Lee Monday evening.
The Yellow Jackets (11-10, 7-5 ODAC) scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed. After the Generals (10-11, 3-9 ODAC) made a pair of layups to cut the deficit to three at 7-4, Moore had a layup to cap a 12-0 run as R-MC took a 19-4 advantage with 10:40 left in the first period. A three-point play by Moore with just under nine minutes remaining gave the visitors a 28-9 lead. Junior Jamie Wilson (West Point, Va./West Point) buried a trey with two minutes left to make it 44-17 before the Yellow Jackets took a 46-19 lead at intermission. Moore had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the first half to lead R-MC. Wilson had three treys for nine points, while Ryan and sophomore Daniel Noe both added eight.
R-MC led by at least 20 throughout the second half. Ryan hit a three-pointer with 3:20 left to give the Yellow Jackets their largest lead at 74-40 before posting the 80-46 victory.
Moore hit eight field goals, one trey and went 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Ryan went 4 for 5 from beyond the arc and went 2 for 2 from the foul line. Wilson finished with 11 points.
The Yellow Jackets held a 45-29 advantage on the boards. Freshman Jon Nowell (Riverdale, Ga./Blair Academy) pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds.
R-MC had its lowest opponent point total of the season with the 46 points by W&L. The previous low was 59 by Virginia Wesleyan.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 10, with a 7 p.m. home ODAC contest against Shenandoah at Crenshaw Gym.
