Moore, Noe Lead R-MC past EMU

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Lamont Moore (Waverly, Va./Tidewater Academy) scored 24 and sophomore Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) tallied a season-high 17 as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team outscored Eastern Mennonite 84-76 Wednesday evening in ODAC action in Crenshaw Gym.

Moore hit five field goals and went 13 for 16 from the free throw line. He has scored at least 20 points in each of the past four games for the Yellow Jackets (8-8, 4-3 ODAC). Noe went 6 for 8 from the floor, hit a trey and was 4 for 6 from the foul line. He has scored in double figures in each of the past three contests. Noe also paced R-MC with seven rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets sprinted out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first four minutes of the contest, capped by a three-pointer by freshman Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen). A layup by Noe gave the home team a 23-4 advantage midway through the period. The Royals (4-9, 1-6 ODAC) hit consecutive three-pointers to cut the deficit to 13 at 32-19 with four minutes left in the first half. The Yellow Jackets closed the half on a 14-4 run as Noe buried a trey just before the buzzer to give R-MC a 46-23 lead at the break. Noe and Moore both had nine in the first period.

R-MC held a double-digit lead through most of the second half. The Yellow Jackets were up 18 at 64-46 before three treys highlighted a 14-5 run for the visitors as EMU cut the deficit to nine at 69-60 with six minutes remaining. The Royals hit a pair of free throws with 1:54 remaining to pull within five at 74-69. R-MC went 10 for 12 from the free throw line over the final 1:33 to secure the 84-76 win.

Juniors Jamie Wilson (West Point, Va./West Point) and Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) both tallied nine points for the Yellow Jackets, while Wilson and Moore both dished out four assists.

Isaiah Harris-Winn had 27 points for EMU, hitting seven treys and six free throws.

Randolph-Macon was scheduled to play at Washington and Lee on Saturday, but that game has been pushed back to Sunday, Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in Lexington.
