  • Field Hockey Earns Pair of VaSID Honors
    December 20, 2019
    Juniors Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) and Claire Magill (Moseley, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division Field Hockey All-State First Team it was announced Friday afternoon. Both are being honored by the group for the first time.

    Randolph-Macon is first on the women’s side as the ODAC released the fall update for the 2019-20 Commissioner’s Cup.
  • Ambrogi-Torres Becomes Field Hockey’s First All-Region Pick Since 2013

    For the first time in more than six years, Randolph-Macon Field Hockey has picked up an All-Region selection. The All-Region picks were announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Junior Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity) was picked to the Longstreth /NFHCA Division III All-South Region Second Team. Ambrogi-Torres was the first All-Region pick since Lauren Seal in 2013, then a senior for the Yellow Jackets.
  • Three Selected To Field Hockey All-ODAC Squads

    Three Yellow Jackets were honored with All-ODAC awards the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Juniors Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) and Claire Magill (Moseley, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) were honored with All-ODAC First Team selections, while fellow junior Austyn Faries (Richmond, Va. / Monacan) landed on the Second Team.

    Junior Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity) scored a goal in each half, but fifth-seeded Roanoke recorded a player-up goal in overtime to edge the fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon field hockey team 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2019 ODAC Tournament.
  • ODAC Selects Brookman As Player of the Week

    Randolph-Macon sophomore Katie Brookman (Culpeper, Va. / Eastern View) was selected as the final Old Dominion Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for this Fall. Brookman earned the honor after collecting six goals in two games, including the game-winner against Virginia Wesleyan.

    Sophomore Katie Brookman (Culpeper, Va. / Eastern View) earned four goals as Randolph-Macon Field Hockey earned a shutout of Ferrum Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets also honored a trio of seniors in a pregame ceremony.

    Sophomore Katie Brookman (Culpeper, Va. / Eastern View) scored twice, but it was her second goal, which came with less than a minute to go, that earned Randolph-Macon Field Hockey a win over Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Virginia Wesleyan on Halloween night.

    Randolph-Macon scored first and held the lead for much of the game, but the Washington and Lee Generals were able to score two unanswered, including the overtime game-winner in a hotly contested Old Dominion Athletic Conference battle Saturday afternoon.

    Randolph-Macon field hockey faced tough headwinds against nationally-ranked opponent Centre College Saturday afternoon. The Colonels bested the Yellow Jackets in a non-conference tilt hosted by neutral site Transylvania University.
  • Healy Scores as Field Hockey Falls to Shenandoah

    WINCHESTER, Va – The Randolph-Macon Field Hockey team dropped a 4-1 match today against the Shenandoah Hornets in Winchester.  Junior Ayanna Healy (Newport News, Va. / Woodside) scored the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets in the third quarter while Abby Sloan and Katie Tanner both added two shots on goal apiece.  The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday the 19th in Lexington, Kentucky for a match against Centre.   
  • Ambrogi-Torres Earns Player of the Week Nod

    Randolph-Macon field hockey attacker Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) was selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week it was announced Monday afternoon. The junior became the first Yellow Jacket selected since graduate Kelsey Stanley ‘17 earned the honor for her work in goal during her sophomore season in 2015.

  • Open Collegiate Practice Day at Randolph-Macon

    This year, Randolph-Macon College will be participating in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s Open Collegiate Practice Day (OCPD). Over the course of two weekends, collegiate field hockey programs from across the country will open their preseason practices to observation by fellow NFHCA members. This event is designed for NFHCA members at all levels to connect and learn from one another. The event is primarily intended for high school and club coach members, but any NFHCA member is welcome to join.
