The Yellow Jackets eventing team traveled to the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, NC this past weekend for the Southern Pines Horse Trials and Collegiate Team Challenge and walked away with the blue ribbon.
The Yellow Jacket Equestrians finished their regular season of IHSA competition with their best standing in the history of the team. Outstanding rides on Saturday at University of Mary Washington gave R-MC the High Point Team award for the day. In addition, the college has more riders qualified for IHSA Regionals than ever before and also leads the region in number of riders qualified. The following team members will represent the team this Saturday when SBC hosts Regionals: Eliza vanderWoude (Warrenton, VA); Emily Ploppert (New Kent, VA); Brianna Shaw (Virginia Beach, VA); Katie Adams (Salem, CT); Julia Bain (Nokesville, VA); Sage Vilgats (Goodview, VA); Sophie Nelson (Culpeper, VA).
The Yellow Jackets finished a fantastic fall season taking home their second High Point Team award at the show hosted by CNU on November 17. Back-to-back wins -- including the team’s victory at the University of Richmond -- has the YJ’s closely contending the top spot in their highly competitive IHSA region.
The IHSA team walked away from the team competition hosted by University of Richmond with every top honor: High Point Team, High Point Rider and Reserve High Point Rider. The Eventing team came home with 2nd place in the year end Collegiate Team Challenge at the Virginia Horse Trials held in Lexington, VA.
The Randolph-Macon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) 2018-19 roster has been determined. Each of our 18 varsity sports has members that represent their team. Members were nominated by their head coaches.
