Last Meeting
R-MC amassed nearly 700 yards of total offense, including 443 through the air, in a 62-10 victory over Catholic.
How it Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets took the opening kickoff and put together a 69-yard scoring drive in 13 plays, using seven minutes. Justin DeLeon took it in from one-yard out to give R-MC a 7-0 lead.
- The R-MC defense forced a punt and Presley Egbers hit David Wallis in stride for a 70-yard scoring strike as the home team went up 14-0 with just over five minutes left in the first period.
- Catholic found the end zone on the first play of the second quarter as it cut the deficit in half at 14-7.
- On the ensuing possession, the Yellow Jackets would go 66 yards in 11 plays as Egbers connected with Holden Hodge on an eight-yard TD pass as the lead grew to 21-7 with 9:19 left in the first half.
- With four minutes until halftime, Joel Calkins forced a fumble and KU Htoo recovered on CUA 49. DeLeon scored from 10 yards out with 53 seconds left as R-MC led 28-7 at the half.
- The Cardinals had a 15-play drive to start the third period, but the R-MC defense held them to a field goal, making it 28-10.
- Egbers hit DeLeon on a screen pass that went 59 yards for a touchdown, giving the Yellow Jackets a 35-10 advantage.
- Owen Arruza had an interception and Kwesi Clarke found the end zone from 10 yards out to extend the lead to 41-10.
- Early in the fourth quarter, the R-MC defense stopped Catholic on down at their five-yard line. After Clarke gained one yard on first down, sophomore Brecht Heuchan hit Zach Bowman on a 94-yard TD pass to make it 48-10.
- Heuchan connected with Hodge on an 85-yard scoring play to make it 55-10. Clarke scored from 28 yards out with 53 seconds left to make the final 62-10.

- R-MC finished with 694 yards of total offense. The Yellow Jackets had 251 on the ground and 443 through the air.
Last Time Out
R-MC registered more than 500 yards of total offense and held the Battling Bishops to zero net rushing yards in a 49-7 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan.
How it Happened:
- The Bishops picked up two first downs on their first possession, but were forced to punt. The Yellow Jackets drove 70 yards in seven plays, as Andrew Ihle plowed in from two yards out for a 7-0 lead.
- The Yellow Jacket defense forced another punt and Ihle scrambled in from 15 yards out as R-MC led 14-0 after one period.
- Nick Hale burrowed in from one yard out and Drew Campanale hit David Wallis on a 71-yard TD pass near the midway point of the second as the advantage grew to 28-0.
- Ihle connected with Zach Bowman on a four-yard scoring pass with one minute left before halftime as R-MC took a 35-0 lead at intermission.
- Campanale led the Yellow Jackets on a 12-play scoring drive to start the second half and completed a three-yard TD pass to Davis Clemmons on a fourth-down play as the margin grew to 42-0.
- NCWU got on the board later in the third period before Campanale hit JoJo Marinella on a 27-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter to make the final score 49-7.
By The Numbers:
- R-MC amassed 523 yards of total offense, with 284 on the ground. Eight different Yellow Jackets had carries and four had at least 48 yards. Gage Pennington paced the victors with 12 carries and 59 yards.
- The Yellow Jackets completed 14 of 17 passes for 239 yards and four scores. Campanale went 9 for 11 for 166 yards and three TDs. Wallis had two catches for 118 yards and one touchdown.
- The Bishops had 18 carries for 0 net yards. Silas James topped R-MC with five tackles.

Pile Up The Points
R-MC tallied 49 points in its opener against NCWC. It was the most points scored in an opener since 2016, when the Yellow Jackets started the campaign with a 51-0 victory at Dickinson. A year ago, R-MC scored at least 49 points three times, including a season-best 62 in a home win vs. Catholic.
Wednesday Action
Four years ago on Sept. 12, 2018, R-MC and Catholic played on a Wednesday evening. Hurricane Florence was expected to hit central Virginia that weekend, so the game was moved up from Saturday to Wednesday ahead of the storm. The Yellow Jackets posted a 41-6 victory.
Record Tie
When Catholic travelled to Ashland on Sept. 16, 1995, the teams battled to a 50-50 tie. It is in the NCAA record book as the highest scoring tie in Division III history.

Lonnnngggg Pass Receptions
Receiver David Wallis is tied for national lead with 59.0 yards per reception. He had two catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. On the first play of R-MC's second drive against NCWU, Andrew Ihle hit Wallis on a 47-yard completion that gave the Yellow Jackets the ball on the NCWU 29, leading to their second touchdown of the game. Drew Campanale connected with Wallis on a 71-yard scoring strike in the second quarter as R-MC pushed its lead to 28-0.
Stingy Against The Run
The R-MC defense held NCWC to zero net rushing yards, the fourth-best effort in Division III during Week 1. The Battling Bishops gained rushing 26 yards and also lost 26 yards on the ground. The last time the Yellow Jackets were this stingy on defense against the run was against Catholic on Oct. 22, 2016, when the Cardinals had minus-23 yards rushing in a 21-0 victory for R-MC in Ashland.
