Women’s Tennis Has Successful Invitational Weekend

ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team began its 2017-18 season over the weekend, with an invitational at home against Bridgewater College, Washington College and Virginia Wesleyan. With seven incoming freshmen, the team got great opportunities to play in a singles and doubles formatted event to set itself up for spring action.

Junior Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary) went 3-0 on the weekend with a win in her singles match against her opponent from Bridgewater College in the #4 slot. She also got two doubles wins with her partner, sophomore Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial), against their opponents from Bridgewater and Va. Wesleyan.

Senior Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va. / York) won her match against her foe from Washington College in the #1 spot. Washington was a ranked squad last year in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Tersigni and partner Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./York) also beat Va. Wesleyan in doubles from the #1 slot. Dantzler followed up the victory with a singles win over her opponent from Bridgewater in the #2 spot.

Freshman Olivia Uzer (McLean, Va./Langley) won twice in her first taste of action as a Yellow Jacket. She beat her opponent from Bridgewater in singles action in the #3 spot, while she and her doubles partner, senior Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C./Northern Nash) beat Washington College's #3 duo.

R-MC tennis is now preparing for its fall fundraiser. More information and dates will be available at a later time.
